Toni Kroos: ‘I feel optimistic about PSG match’

“I think people asked the same questions of us last year because we were champions and it is always complicated,” he said at a Mahou event. “In the last Champions League campaign, we played against Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and then Juventus in the final, winning again after doing so in 2016.”

“So I’m really looking forward to playing in these games. It is going to be hard, of course, because PSG are a great team, but so are we. I’m eager to play in these games and I’m looking at them optimistically.”

The former Bayern ace does know how big the task is though and has been very impressed with Real’s opponents.

“We’re facing one of the best goalkeepers, four of the best defenders, three of the best midfielders and three of the best strikers,” he explained. “They’re a complex team, they’re very good but it isn’t only about the attack with them.

“Of course they’re good in that area, and fast. They score a lot of goals but we are concentrating on our own game. We also have magnificent defenders, midfielders, strikers and a great goalkeeper ourselves. It is about trusting ourselves in what we do. That will be the most important thing.”
